We built Family Story because the window is always shorter than we think — and the technology to do something about it finally exists.
Our founder’s story
A doctor and technologist boosting human connection.
Paul Nicolarakis graduated in medicine and began training in geriatric medicine — caring for older patients, seeing first-hand how much their stories mattered, not just to them, but to those who gathered around them.
He soon left clinical practice to spend the next two decades in healthcare technology, working across Australia and internationally, developing systems designed to improve care. Making hospitals run smoother, helping clinicians make better decisions, improving how institutions delivered complex care. Important work. But one-step removed from the people it was serving.
Family Story is different. Informed by more personal experiences, it focuses on older people directly. About the irreplaceable value of their stories, and using those stories to bring their families and friends closer together.
The stories that matter most are rarely the ones written down. They’re the ones told over the phone, at the kitchen table, or while looking over old photo albums. In Family Story, we’ve built something that listens to them for all time. — Dr Paul Nicolarakis, Founder

Family Story is built by Argentic Labs, a Sydney-based team of seasoned executives with deep expertise across health and aged care, product design, data, policy, and technology.
We founded Argentic Labs on a straightforward conviction: that recent advances in generative AI, applied thoughtfully and with deep domain knowledge, can solve meaningful problems across the care continuum.
Family Story is our first consumer product. It reflects everything we know about older adults, about families, and about getting technology out of the way and in support of human connection.
We are proudly based in Sydney, Australia and build on Gadigal Land.
